Resin Accessories Revamp
The Client & The Challenge
A solo-run handmade resin accessories business operating for 4 years. Despite high-quality craftsmanship, the business struggled to transition from a passionate hobby to a profitable e-commerce brand.
Stagnant growth with total 4-year revenue under 3,500 SAR. The brand suffered from a lack of clear positioning, seasonal dependency (bazaars), poor visual presentation, and pricing that failed to cover manual labor.
Research & Discovery
Target Audience
Shifted from broad targeting to a niche looking for premium, personalized gifts.
Pricing Strategy
Identified negative margins; restructured pricing to ensure profitability.
Visual Identity
Previous visuals failed to show product gloss; established new photography guidelines.
Strategic Turnaround Plan
After analyzing the historical sales data (a mere 3,500 SAR over 5 years), it became evident that the core issue wasn’t the quality of the resin craftsmanship, but the absence of a viable business model. The strategic plan focused on transitioning the project from a “personal hobby” to a scalable, profitable e-commerce brand by rebuilding the marketing mix from the ground up across three main pillars:
Pillar 1: Visual Identity & Customer Experience (UX)
Resin is a highly visual product where purchasing decisions are driven by aesthetics, details, and gloss.
- Brand Revamp: We discarded the old, disconnected brand name and developed a new visual identity with a color palette that reflects premium craftsmanship.
- Photography Guidelines: Established new art direction rules focusing on natural lighting to highlight the epoxy’s transparency and embedded details (like gold flakes or dried flowers).
- The Unboxing Experience: Redesigned the packaging to create a memorable unboxing experience that encourages customers to share on social media, generating free User-Generated Content (UGC).
Pillar 2: Pricing Restructure & Campaign Strategy
Relying solely on seasonal physical bazaars was killing the business. To pivot to e-commerce, we implemented the following:
- Value-Based Pricing: The audit revealed that old prices barely covered raw materials, ignoring manual labor. We built a new pricing structure with healthy profit margins, ensuring future paid ads could be funded without operating at a loss.
- Ad Campaign Blueprint: Developed a structured funnel for Meta Ads, planning “Awareness” campaigns targeting users interested in personalized gifts and handmade arts, followed by “Retargeting” campaigns for store visitors.
Pillar 3: Engaging Content Creation
We completely halted the random posting of static, low-quality images and shifted to a storytelling-first content strategy:
- Behind the Scenes (BTS): Pivoted to short-form video formats (Reels/TikTok) showcasing the satisfying process of resin mixing, pouring, and demolding. This content style is highly engaging and has strong viral potential.
- Educational Content: Creating content that educates the audience on the value of one-of-a-kind handmade art and how to care for resin pieces.
Execution & Implementation (Phase 1)
The auditing and repositioning phase took approximately 4 weeks. The biggest challenge was overcoming the owner’s hesitation to raise prices. This was resolved by demonstrating the math and explaining that our new targeting strategy focuses on a premium audience that values bespoke art, rather than competing on the lowest price. We successfully finalized the e-commerce store setup, approved the new visual identity, and shot the first batch of products using the updated guidelines.
💡 Key Insight: Working with a solopreneur requires extreme caution in scaling. The biggest lesson learned here is the necessity of aligning marketing efforts with operational capacity. Running a highly successful, aggressive ad campaign could generate more orders than the artisan can physically produce, leading to delayed shipping and a ruined brand reputation right at launch.
Phase 1 Outcomes & Deliverables
As the project is currently gearing up for its official relaunch, the immediate results are reflected in our strategic deliverables:
- Sustainable Business Model: Delivered an optimized pricing structure that covers marketing and production costs while securing a healthy profit margin.
- Defined Target Audience: Shifted from broad, ineffective targeting to a well-defined niche, which will significantly lower the Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) once ads are live.
- Go-to-Market Readiness: Successfully delivered a fully integrated e-commerce store, a professional visual identity, and a ready-to-execute content calendar.
